Since leadership is going hand-in-glove with quality, Danaos is among a very small band of maritime technology companies that has regularly participated in bona fide and applied research, notably a string of European Union funded projects during the past 20 years, either as coordinator or as beneficiary.

European Union-funded projects since the 1990’s. From Broadband communications (Marin-ABC project) and MASSIS II (Human- machine interface) unto FLAGSHIP (the EU Integrated Framework for ship operations), Danaos constantly spends time and energy to incorporate state-of the art best business practices, innovative aspects and outputs from scientific research in the design of its solutions.

In 2004, Danaos established the Danaos Research Centre (DrC) that is dominant worldwide in applied research for the maritime industry. DrC has benefited from the funding of coordination or participation in decades of European Union Research competitions, during national and private cooperative projects.

Since 2004 Dr.C is the leader in applied research activities in the EU Ships Management industry, and one of the top-ten Greek research institutes in terms of budget and number of approved projects. Dr.C currently participates in eleven EU and national projects with a 7 M€ budget and 15 M€ ROI.

DrC is looking forward and beyond to be a key player in environmentally friendly efficient transportation across oceans. Research activities are mainly focused in the fields of Energy efficiency, human Resources planning, communication, operation research, information and management science. Teamwork spirit, creative thinking and extrovation are optimally combined in a goal-efficiency programming effort under a holistic approach.  <Previous
